proud to be handling the PR for the Queen Mary University of London Small Press Fiction Prize as it marks its 10th anniversary
Formerly the Republic of Consciousness Prize, the award has spent a decade supporting small presses by redistributing both prize money and attention across the longlist and shortlist — a quietly radical approach in a publishing landscape that often favours what’s proven and profitable over what’s new or experimental.
The 2026 long-list will be announced at an event on 12 February, marking ten years of sustained commitment to ambitious, small-press fiction and more than £120,000 directed to independent publishers, authors and translators.
As part of our work this year, Tiger Team Creative will also be sponsoring bespoke PR consultancy for the longlisted presses, offering practical support to help them capitalise on visibility and compete more confidently in a crowded cultural space.
At the heart of the prize is novelist, publisher and founder, Neil Griffiths whose persistence, integrity and belief in small-press publishing we deeply admire.
Small presses offer an adventurous alternative to mainstream publishing and do much to enrich the UK’s cultural conversation by publishing interesting, challenging and beautiful fiction at the fragile edges. The Queen Mary Small Press Fiction Prize helps ensure this precious, plural publishing ecosystem survives and thrives.
